It turns out that C-Note and Flip are actually pretty close as friends, despite the fact that C-Note was actually the very first one to Freestyle on a Screw tape, which eventually led to the formation of Screwed Up Click, and that at that very same time, Lil Flip was 11.
On C-Note’s solo debut album, Third Coast Born, Lil Flip lends a hand on “Diamondz All-N-Yo Face”, an ode to diamonds. Despite it’s simple message, C-Note and Lil Flip once again prove they can turn even the most basic song their bitch. It turns into an instant favorite and one of the all-time classics from Third Coast Born.
It’s too bad that they did not get more opportunities for recording together. Because, the way I see it, they are batting 1000, hitting both out of the park. If the coach did not pass of an untimely death (R.I.P. Robert Earl Davis), he would no doubt have put these two inn the lineup every chance he could.
While other rappers are working tirelessly to write their masterpieces, Flip and C-Note aren’t sweating. They know that funk and flow will get the people going. And they’ve got plenty of both for your listening pleasure:
